The 4 P’s: Finally got ahold of this thing

2 July 2015

Finally got ahold of this thing]In the spirit of transparency, which I want to infect this entire site with, I share the following:

There’s what I’ve done and formerly helped people with; work that still needs to be referenced, in order to prove important points.

Then there’s what I want to do, which has to be adjusted and synchronized with what people need me to do.

And these people – who are they?

  • Beginners to the purpose discovery journey
  • Pros who are well underway and want to reach another audience
  • Project developers and artists who’d love to just do their thing and have someone else handle tech and marketing
  • Writers and other artists who need help getting published
  • Visitors who need the specific help found in the content the rest of us supply
  • Fellow show runners and producers who will one day partner with me
  • Benefactors and future mentors, whom I hope to impress enough to merit their support and guidance
  • Affiliates who will one day make their money by marketing my goods and services

And there’s the now obvious fact that my site is not only my life’s mission. It’s also a business.

So how DO we comfortably merge these variables in a mutually beneficial way?

The actual answer to this is a little lower on the page. First, some more influencing factors to consider.

I have so much to offer that the list will always change and grow.

And the people coming into the site have what they offer. As I help them, that effort will also affect what I offer.

Then there’s what I am able to passionately keep up with each day in the face of budget limitations, family obligations, bizarre sleep schedules, and the ever present need to make sure I never become a hypocrite.

Because you need me to walk my talk

The walking keeps the talking on point, productive, positive, and profitable.

And I’m not ignorant. My actual needs are not why you’re on my site.

You’re here for those four things. The 4 P’s.

I feel the same when I visit someone else’s site. Even if I like them a lot, they still need offer something beneficial to justify the time expenditure on my part.

I know this. And, like never before, I know that I am now in that same hot seat.

I’m cool with those responsibilities

But until earlier today, I’d never laid out what it is I do or offer to you. That’s because of the confusion that comes from considering all the angles mentioned above.

It’s hard taking that first official step.

And, to be sure, what you see today is only a first draft. However, it came from years of experience, training, meditation, study, and counsel. The work to get to here has been bubbling along behind the scenes for almost 20 years.

It’s the face of the thing that’s always given me the most trouble.

But I’m pretty happy with the initial batch of offerings, their price points, who I aimed them at, and where I see them going next – for you and for me.

So, that was me keeping this transparent

I got this transparency idea from Pat Flynn at Smart Passive Income. I once wanted to do something exactly like he did. But over time, I came to realize it was his model of business that interested me, not his actual business.

And he takes transparency to its deepest level. The man shares exactly what he makes each month (and loses) and how and why. It’s incredible! Go read about his first online business and where it all went from there.

I even modeled my “About” page like his.

I needed a template. I have so much to say and so many ways I could bring it to you, that it just becomes a rats nest of knotted and tangled information.

(Welcome to MY head!)

My shit makes sense to me but resembles madness to many if I don’t find a way to tame and present it better

Maybe you can relate?

I also used Pat’s Home Page as a template for mine, at first. But that wasn’t quite hittin’ it like I wanted.

So, I visited my buddy Jonathan (He doesn’t know me. I’m just being pleasant.) at Hero’s Trading Co. to see how he shaped a page.

I really like his design style and I matched my home page format to his.

And we are addressing a very similar audience. Check him out further if you’d like. Very nice energy in his house.

His guides are perfect for many beginner audiences – those who are trying to get clear on their purpose and escape the nine-to-five.

That’s it for now. Let me know how this bit of info struck you, what you might like to know more about or even what you’ve been up to in these same areas.
